How We Source This
Where Bibles.id gets what it publishes, and what we do when we cannot source something.
Why this page exists
A site that makes claims owes you an account of where they come from. This is that account. If a page on this site does not follow what is written here, the page is wrong and we want to know.
What counts as a source
A primary document, wherever one exists: the text itself, the official statement, the published study, the historical record, the organisation's own words. We do not cite other blogs as authority, and we do not treat a widely repeated claim as a sourced one — repetition is not evidence, and most of what circulates on these subjects is repetition.
The four labels
Where a claim's status is not obvious, we label it, so you always know what kind of thing you are reading:
- Established — supported by evidence or documentary record that would survive scrutiny.
- Traditional teaching — held by a named tradition. True within that tradition; attributed, not asserted.
- Contested — genuinely disputed, including among people who know the material well.
- Reflection — our own editorial reflection, offered as that and nothing more.
What we do when we cannot source something
We write around it. If a figure, a date, a quotation, an attribution or a teaching cannot be sourced and kept accurate, it does not appear — we explain the mechanism instead and point you to where the answer actually lives. An unsourced claim removed is a page improved.
How the tools work
Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted, stored or logged. Each one shows the assumptions it depends on and a plain statement of what it does not account for. Every tool ends in a practical next step, because a tool that produces only a score exists to collect an email rather than to help you.
How anything commercial is ordered
Never by what we are paid. Commercial cards and rows carry a visible Sponsored or Partner label and are styled differently from editorial content, so you can always tell which is which. We only describe a partner relationship once it actually exists; until then, no one is named as a partner anywhere on this site.
Review and corrections
Pages are reviewed on a rolling basis. Corrections are made in place, promptly, and material ones are noted on the page. Tell us through the contact form.
